The entire heirloom portrait experience generally takes 8-10 weeks from session to finished product.
I select 20 images to share with you in an online gallery. You select your top 5 to become your final heirloom portraits in color and black & white.
The photography session takes only 20 minutes per child, making it easy to fit into your schedule. I help your child warm up to the camera and teach them how to sit properly for the photos with various expressions and profiles. Included in the session is time to view frame options and hold finished products to determine which is best for your family and will complement your home.
Via phone, Facetime, or in person, we discuss wardrobe styling to complete the heirloom “look.” This is a chance for me to learn details about your child, and for you to learn more about the process and to ask all of your questions.

Via Zoom, we decide what you want to do with your portraits. You can choose an heirloom print box, a fine art album, or frames.
Approximately ages 9 months to 12 years. When considering my own children, I have realized that in a few years I would have wished I had. Even “big” kids will soon seem as though they were little.
My only requirement is babies must be able to sit up on their own.
Another option is to have portraits made at different ages to document their entire childhood.
Please select whites or pale, pastel colors as they photograph best for a clean, vignette look. Think dresses, collars, special occasion outfits, lace, ribbon, smocking, and Peter Pan collars. Examples of designers: Feltman Brothers, Strasburg Children, the Edgehill Collection, The Beaufort Bonnet Company, Dondolo, Little English, Cecil and Lou, and Bailey Boys.
I do offer complimentary wardrobe outfits, but you may wish to purchase your own attire to pass down. Not only will your photograph be treasured, but what a gift to enjoy and photograph an heirloom outfit for generations.
A non-refundable sitting fee ($200) is required at booking to reserve your date and time. In the event of sickness, the fee may be rolled over to the next available session.
The sitting fee includes up to 20 minutes of shooting per child. Each child receives a proofing gallery option to purchase products a la carte. Digital images are only available to purchase after the purchase of products.
In all my years of photographing children, I have never given up. I have toys, jokes, and a calming presence to ensure children are comfortable. Almost always, you leave your session facing the difficult decision of narrowing choices down.
I often serve Lexington and Louisville, Kentucky. I am able to travel to other Kentucky towns for heirloom events. If you’re interested in hosting an heirloom event, please contact me.
Heirloom events are often held in the home of a client who is willing to host other interested families. If you host a minumum of 6 children, your sitting fee is waived.

My edited portraits are hand-edited to be on a true white background so that sibling portraits, repeated portraits at different ages, etc., can all be hung side-by-side and look cohesive. For each size of print, I also spend time crafting each child’s features to be proportionate side-by-side, meaning that the perspective of photos complement each other.
There is a difference in paper quality, print labs, glass, and archival materials, and I have curated a specific collection that will never go out of style or deteriorate over the years. I hope this makes for an easier process to create and hang your finished product.
